Here are answers to some of the most common questions you might have when ordering a dress from The Faded Sunflower.

How Does This Work? 
Each and every dress on The Faded Sunflower is made to order. Quite often brides will submit a picture from a designer or a magazine and my team and I will replicate the dress. In many listings you can see the copy we've done compared to the original. We use high quality lace, tulle, organza, beads, crystals, appliques, and embellishments to produce the finest dresses.  It's our way of making it possible for brides to have the design they love without spending thousands of dollars.

I work with each bride personally. From the time you place your order until the time you receive your dress I stay in touch to let you know the progress of your dress. I understand how important this purchase is and want to help put your mind at east throughout the process.  I recommend a free phone consultation BEFORE ordering to be sure this is the right choice for you.

Original vs Copies
Our dresses are designer inspired REPLICAS. In no way do we claim the original designs of the dresses we recreate. Our copies are excellent recreations as is evident by our #RealBride pictures, but they are only inspired by the originals. Images of designer originals are used for comparison purposes ONLY and are the copyrighted property of the applicable designer.

Where are the dresses made? 
All of our dresses are made in the USA.

Can you send a sample dress to try? 
I'm sometimes asked if a bride can buy a dress and if she doesn't like it return it. Because our dresses are custom made, I am unable to send them out to try on. I recommend you visit a local bridal boutique to try on the dress or similar so you can see what the style will look like on you before you order. All custom wedding gown sales are final.

What about Rush Orders or Custom Orders? 
In many cases I can accommodate rush orders within reason depending on the time of year. A rush order is usually 2-3 weeks vs 4-6 or more depending on the dress you've chosen. Custom requests can usually be accommodated as well. There is an additional fee for both.

What if my dress doesn't fit? 
Each dress is made EXACTLY to your measurements. So no stress eating if you can help it!  I measure each dress numerous times throughout the process to ensure that the dress is sized according to the measurements YOU provide. I highly recommend having your measurements done by a professional seamstress who knows how to measure for wedding gowns to ensure accuracy. In the unlikely chance that you receive your dress and measurements are off by more than 2-3 cm I will make the adjustments needed at no charge. Otherwise it will be the brides responsibility to have the gown altered.

In some cases it is more feasible to have the alterations done locally, in these cases, The Faded Sunflower will cover the cost up to $75 for gowns under $499 and $100 for gowns over $500. These reimbursements will need to be agreed upon prior to the alterations being made.  Rush orders are exempt from local alterations.

Do Replica's Turn Out Exactly Like the Pictures? 
Pretty darn close. Some designers have certain things like lace and appliques made especially for their design houses. In that case we match the item as closely as possible to achieve the best copy.  We work with each bride to choose the lace or other element they like best. Please keep in mind, colors on a monitor are a little different than colors in person. If you are considering an off white dress or champagne, visit a local bridal boutique and view the colors in person. Hold them up to your skin or try dresses of those colors on to be sure that is the color you want. In many posts on our website wee included images submitted by our brides so that you can see the comparison.

What's Your Return Policy? 
We do not accept returns or cancellations on wedding gowns unless the dress was damaged in shipping, in which case I will recreate the dress for you. Each dress is inspected and photographed BEFORE it leaves our studio to be sure it is sent in pristine condition. However, we work closely with each bride to ensure their satisfaction. If you are dissatisfied with anything, I will work with you to rectify the issue.  It is important that when you choose your dress you're positive that's the one you want. Again, visiting a local bridal boutique to see the dress in person, vs pictures on the Internet will help you make this decision. Then we can create the dress you love and be sure you'll still love it when you get it!

No Bridezilla's. Ever. 
We have a strict, NO BRIDEZILLA policy. No one should have to be subjected to verbal or emotional abuse. We feel we are entitled to respect no matter how stressful your wedding planning may be for you. If ordering a made-to-order or custom gown is too stressful to contemplate, then please make another choice in bridal boutiques. Sadly, we've learned from experience that made this clause necessary. The good thing is, most of our brides are sweethearts and we've remained friends long after the wedding!

Can you send me pictures during the process?

Unfortunately, there isn't enough time to stage dresses throughout the creation process for pictures and if I do it for one, I have to do it for all. So at this time, I do not send pictures while working on your dress unless it is for the purpose of choosing lace, embellishments, or other materials. When you receive your dress, if it needs alterations or changes I will take care of that according to my policy.

Even though I've placed this disclaimer here, I STILL get asked if I will send pictures. Please read the above again.  If you are not comfortable with ordering a custom made dress, or need to see every step of the creation process, this may not be the right choice for you. please choose another boutique that can accommodate your needs.

How long does it take? 
That depends on the dress you're ordering, but in most cases 6-8 weeks from the time you are put on our schedule. Your order date is not the start date for your dress design. I will give you an approximate start date when we speak by phone.

Please contact me to check my availability. It is highly recommended that you order a dress for an April-June wedding well in advance (10-12 months) as my schedule fills up very quickly months ahead.  See above for rush order availability.
